Due to the three-day mourning declared by the Region of Thessaly on the occasion of the tragic accident at the “Violanta” factory, where 5 workers lost their lives, the opening of the photography exhibition Tloupas PATH – Photography Award of Thessaly’s Heritage, which was to take place on Thursday, January 29, has been postponed.
On February 5 at 19:00, the Governor of Thessaly, Dimitris Kouretas, will declare the start of the Tloupas Path 2026 photography competition and at the same time the opening of the awards exhibition will take place. The project has been included in the Thessaly 2021-2027 Program (NSRF), within the framework of the “Takis Tloupas photography competition” action.
The exhibition will be hosted at Mylos tou Pappas (Georgiadou 53, Larissa 41447).

The Region of Thessaly opens the photography exhibition Tloupas PATH – Photography Award of Thessaly’s Heritage, where it presents the works that distinguished themselves in the institution’s two annual competitions, the TLOUPAS PATH INTERNATIONAL AWARD and the TLOUPAS PATH UNDER 30 AWARD 2025. The exhibition displays a complete series of photographs of the winners of the two competitions as well as representative photographs of the artists who were shortlisted. In this way, the Region of Thessaly brings established and younger photographers into creative dialogue with the photographic heritage of Thessaly through contemporary visual approaches. The Tloupas PATH – Photography Award of Thessaly’s Heritage is a contemporary cultural institution inspired by the work of Takis Tloupas, one of the most important Greek photographers of the 20th century.
Recognizing the timeless value of Takis Tloupas’ photographic legacy, the Region of Thessaly inaugurates, through this institution, a modern cultural initiative dedicated to the preservation, promotion and creative reinterpretation of the photographic memory of the place.
Takis Tloupas’ work is deeply connected to man and the natural and social landscape of Thessaly. Through his photographic gaze, the landscape is transformed into a field of lived experience and man into an organic part of his environment. His images capture moments of everyday life, work and silence, in an era that is on the border between tradition and the coming change.
The Turning Point thematic cycle that was the theme of the 2025 competition speaks directly to this perspective, focusing on turning points — where the end of one era coexists with the beginning of another, where loss meets perspective and uncertainty meets opportunity. The exhibition’s contemporary photographic approaches explore the relationship between man and his environment in a world that is constantly changing.
We thank the Municipality of Larissa and the Deputy Mayor’s Office for Culture for the excellent cooperation.
We thank the photographers for their great participation as well as the Jury.
The exhibition will be open to the public on weekdays and weekends, from 10:00 to 21:00, inviting the public to reflect on memory, responsibility and the future of the place.
